Walk the plank!

Just kidding.  Do the plank.  Each day try to incorporate something.  Anything.  Exercise-wise.  I think it’s a good idea to (I’m no expert, the scale will tell you that, but I have been in better shape than now, so take it or leave it when I tell you something, but I’m gonna press forward to do these things… you will see, but feel first, a bene) alternate cardio with weight or resistance training.  Go every other day with these things.  It’ll get you into the gym or out-of-doors more often than not, if you do.  Enjoy the changing lifestyle.  One day, you may find yourself on skis again, or for the first time!  You may try windsurfing, or snowboarding (not me.)  Your poor doggie may actually get to go for a walk.  Or, in my case, my kids may get to go to the park!  Just kidding, again.  At any rate, you’ll be more fit and feeling groovy.  At least, more more pliable…

Unlike my foot, I got a silly hairline fracture just walking, hello!, at the gym.  On the treadmill.  It was ridiculous.  I did not heed the advice I knew so well, “If it hurts, stop it.”  I kept on.  And on.  I shook it off, as I did in my teens, twenties, thirties… not so wise now in my forties, you count them… 10, 20, 30, 40… 42.  And soon, 43.  Oh my.

Well, there was an entire day where I couldn’t put any weight on it at all.  We even had to buy crutches!  I actually consider the possibility of being stranded somewhere taking pictures.  What if my foot gives out again?  I’ll literally have to crawl back to my car…

Enjoy some 2 or 3 lb. weights.  Get a couple at Target or Wal*Mart and check into some easy lifts, online.  Lifting, resistance training increases metabolism, which will burn your fat quicker.  All day long. 

Re:  cardio, it is unwise to workout, be it walking, swimming, running, when out of breath.  You will have to meet with a fitness friend or trainer to find out your ‘number’ but my fat-burning zone is between 18-24, if memory serves… I sort of know how I ‘feel’ when I am in the zone.  So, I don’t go beyond it since I don’t like feeling like I’m going to pass out, or looking goofy all red in the face, nor would I ever want to burn muscle, having so little to begin with.

Enjoy your day, it’s rainy and cold here.  I hope yours is sunny and lovely.  Eat your orange, we have about another week or so before adding a veg.
